The Workshop is currently run by an ad hoc body composed of members of the PSEM, GSP and SMEP. The Workshop will examine and assess the problems besetting the industry. It will identify solutions, opportunities and options for the industry -- and the country -- to attract local and foreign investments in the development of mineral resources. It aims to fashion a National Vision of the minerals industry that will define its role in the nation's socio-economic development. Workshop participants include industry members, representatives from the government, the academe and other concerned groups. Areas of discussion include: The National Vision, Policy Issues, Legal Issues (The Mining Act, The Indigenous People's Rights Act, the Local Government Code, others), and Environment and Social Issues.
